Happy 50th Anniversary!
In October 1996, we bought our first Water Doctors franchise. With a family of four, we took a chance and have never looked back!
Coming from an auto glass and motor head background, I had good skills, but Water Doctors taught me a lot. I learned how to think about water and wind repair, and the right kind of repair procedures and products to use. This gave me confidence, and Water Doctors Corporate has supported me and my franchise greatly over the years. Today, my son Drew runs the business. His involvement has helped ensure quality and longevity to a family-owned business that has expanded to provide a good income not only for our family, but for several technicians as well.
Many thanks to the late Jim Vandale and his family for providing an opportunity to be a part of the Water Doctors family, and to Todd Radel and family for continuing the legacy of Water Doctors and the great service we provide. The support and encouragement from Corporate made all the difference as we built our business.

When I first started working for Water Doctors, I was a technician and worked parts of Connecticut and New York State.
I was given the opportunity to buy my franchise and expanded into Massachusetts New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Every day going to work for Water Doctors is a new experience because it’s never the same job or the same Water Leak.
I have met a lot of great people at car dealerships and some stay at that dealership and some move on to numerous dealerships and take me with them.
So between meeting great people and eating great food on my travels it has been a great experience. Thank you Water Doctors for the opportunity.

From Automotive Sales to Thriving Water Doctors Contractor

After 20 successful years as a car salesperson, I was ready for a new challenge that leveraged my customer service expertise and passion for the automotive industry. In early 2024, I learned that the local Water Doctors technician had retired, leaving a gap in service for dealerships in my area. I reached out to Todd Radel, the owner of Water Doctors International, simply to inquire about who might take over the territory. When he shared that no replacement was yet in place, I saw the perfect opportunity and jumped at it without hesitation.

Todd personally trained me over an intensive two-week period in Delaware, where I had the privilege of working alongside him, his son, and the talented crew. The hands-on training was exceptional—thorough, practical, and confidence-building. By the time I returned home, I felt fully equipped to diagnose and resolve even the most complex water intrusion, leak, and wind noise issues in vehicles.

Todd went above and beyond by traveling to Pittsburgh to assist with initial marketing efforts, helping me launch my business swiftly and effectively. Since April 2024, I’ve hit the ground running and haven’t looked back. The ongoing support from Todd and the Delaware team has been invaluable—especially in those early months when I was calling Frank multiple times a day for guidance on new challenges. He (and the entire team) was always patient, knowledgeable, and eager to help me succeed.

In less than two years, I’ve proudly served over 100 dealerships, delivering reliable, high-quality repairs that keep vehicles dry, quiet, and odor-free. As I approach my two-year anniversary in April, I wake up every day thankful and grateful for the opportunity Todd gave me to become a Water Doctor.

Water Doctors has given me the opportunity to have a better work life balance! Over the soon to be 3 years with Water Doctors I have been able to have more free time to spend with family and friends while still making a good living! I am happy to have new challenges daily and no two water leaks are ever exactly the same! I never have to feel like I dread going to work since I love what I do!

My name is Jason Ellis, and I am one of the original Water Doctors. I have been a Water Doctor for over 30 years. My father purchased the St. Louis franchise when I was in high school. Traveling to train in South Carolina, I learned from the best and brought that knowledge back to the St. Louis Metro area and have been locating and repairing water leaks and wind noises ever since. I take the utmost pride in my work, and have built a reputation as being the absolute best.

In late 2015, I moved my family from sunny South Florida, up to Charlotte, NC. When the family Pilot sprung a water leak soaking out the floorboard, no shop around would even look at it. Thankfully, I got in touch with Todd, who I thought would help me get the water leak fixed. He ended up offering me the opportunity to take over the Charlotte area as a Water Doctor and thereby repair my own leaking vehicle in the process. The first 10 years of my career had been as an HR Director for a Foster Care company and was now going to be running a business fixing water leaks in cars. This was no small jump with my family’s livelihood on the line, but the support and care from Todd, DJ, and the other Water Doctors was simply tremendous. Ten years later, it is plain to see this was the Lord’s plan for our lives. The business has changed the financial outlook for our family as well as others that have come under us. We are so thankful for this opportunity to build a good name in the community, help others, and all while making a good living.

My time at Water Doctors has been nothing short of a blessing. Being a gearhead at heart, Water Doctors has afforded me the freedom and ability to grow myself, my business, and my family, all while doing something I am passionate about. With the support, guidance, and structure of a small mom and pop, and the service, consistency and branding known and trusted throughout the auto industry, I am proud to be a part of the Water Doctors team.

My story starts in a Kia Dealership in West Chester, PA. At the time I was working as a tech for Colors On Parade doing touch ups and bumper repairs, but also preparing to move To Maine to assume a Pastorate in a small community Church. This position also required me to be bi-vocational, I was preparing to go back to driving trucks.

That day at the Kia dealership I met Todd and during our conversation I spoke of my upcoming move to Maine. He asked if I was going to take the touch up business to Maine? I told him I would probably go back to driving truck, reluctantly. He then introduced me to his business as a possibility, now that sounded like a great opportunity. I discussed it with my wife and decided we had nothing to lose.

January 2016, we moved to Maine and a couple days later Todd traveled to Maine, and we began the marketing process. We started with not one dealership and at this present time I have dozens of dealerships and a multitude of retail customers. This has been the best Franchise opportunity I have ever come across, and Todd has been wonderful to work with.

I am so glad for that encounter that only the Lord could have arranged!
